Tiffany
French carriage clock with Grand Sonnerie movement

This
French carriage clock was retailed by Tiffany, New
York, and is signed and numbered ‘3819’ on the backplate.
The
fine quality gilded case has Corinthian columns topped
with finely cast capitals and stamped ‘E 46’ on the
base plate below the gongs.
The
white enamel dial has Roman hour and small Arabic
minute numerals with a separate dial for the alarm
below the IV. A repeat button is located on the top
above the dial.
The
two gong Grand and Petite Sonnerie striking movement
has the selection lever for “Hours and quarters /
Silent / Quarters only” striking in the base. A
fine quality lever escapement can be viewed through
the beveled glazed top. Having
been recently cleaned and overhauled ‘number 3819’
is in pristine condition and runs well.
