This
high quality Swedish table clock was made by Clos
Wolpher around 1730. It strikes and repeats on a bell
mounted in the base. The glazed side panels offer
a view of the nicely engraved barrel and pillars.
The clock is in excellent original condition with
very crisp engraving showing little wear.
Circa 1700.

Clos Wolpher (1696-1759) was a highly regarded clockmaker
working out of Dalarna, Sweden in the first half of
the 18th Century. His work is in Royal collections and
was commissioned by the wealthy and famous who wanted
the best pocket watch, table clock, wall or mantle clock.
He donated all his property to a school in By, Sweden
on his death. |
