French
marble Portico clock with extensive ormolu fretwork
mounted on two finely decorated marble columns topped
with three ornate ormolu finials shaped as bouquets
of flowers.
The porcelain dial with Arabic outer minutes ring,
larger hour ring, and inner calendar ring signed by
the retailer 'Laude 'a Mona' with ornate ormolu hour
and minute hands and blued steel calendar hand.
The high quality movement runs well, strikes hour
and 1/2 hour on a bell with calendar. There are no
maker's marks or serial numbers on the movement.
It has recently been cleaned and is a good time keeper.
There is a small crack in the marble and that is the
only visible damage on the clock.
Circa 1840.
