French
Breguet style pocket watch - Details:
Were
it not for the lack of Breguets signature, one
would be hard pressed to distinguish this watch from
those made by the famous French maker. The
gilt plated movement has a cylinder escapement, Breguet
parachute shockproof device and key wind, with quarter
repeating on two square section gongs operated by
a push release on the pendant.
The
silver engine-turned dial with black engraved Roman
numerals is secured (in the manner of Breguet) with
a single steel screw. Blued
steel Breguet moon hands indicate the hours and minutes
while a smaller steel hand is used in the gold subsidiary
seconds ring located at the six oclock position.
All this is incased in an open faced gold engine-turned
case, hallmarked and numbered 3549, with inner couvette.
Circa
1810
